Qantas COO joins Virgin Australia
Qantas’ Chief Operating Officer Paul Jones has jumped ship to rival Virgin Australia.
Jones has left to join Virgin as Chief Customer and Digital Officer after only three months as Qantas COO.
Jones had been with Qantas since 2011 and held several roles in customer service, commercial and operations.
The move is effective immediately.
Jones was overseeing Qantas’ controversial move to make more than 2,000 ground workers redundant and outsource the positions to save money.
That decision has led a legal challenge from the Transport Workers Union.
However Virgin has no intention of doing the same with its ground handling teams.
"Our first preference is always to keep people in our teams as opposed to outsourcing," said new Virgin CEO, Jayne Hrdlicka.
