Qantas on track to reopen most airport lounges before year-end

Tuesday, 12 Nov, 2020 0

With domestic border restrictions easing further, Qantas will reopen most of its airport lounges in December.

From 2 December, the airline will reopen 35 lounges as it expects to operate 50% of normal domestic capacity by the Christmas holidays.

Lounges at Brisbane, Hobart, Perth and Sydney will open again as well as smaller lounges in regional airports including Coolangatta, Devonport and Launceston.

"As more of our customers return to the skies we’re delighted we can now reopen almost all of our lounges in time for Christmas," said Qantas Chief Customer Officer Steph Tully.

Under the airline’s ‘Fly Well’ initiative, lounge occupants will be capped based on each lounge’s carrying capacity.

There will be no more self-service buffet style food counters, which are replaced by ‘snacking stations’ and  a ‘tray around service’ which is served by wait staff.

"It’s another step towards returning the travel experience back to normal. It also means more of our people can get back to work," Tully added.
