Red Roof checks in to Asia with Japan hotel opening

Tuesday, 26 July 20163 min read
US budget hotel group Red Roof has arrived in Asia with the opening of the 224-room Red Roof Plus Namba-Osaka in Japan.
It is a rebrand of the former Floral Inn with the addition of 26 new guest rooms as part of a $14.5 million renovation.
The hotel features free Wi-Fi and a restaurant.
"Red Roof’s continued global expansion is a definitive sign of how healthy and in demand our brand is. From the Americas to Asia, consumers’ need for comfortable lodging at a value price cannot be underestimated," said Red Roof president Andrew Alexander.
The company first expanded internationally last year in Brazil with plans to develop up to 40 properties in Brazil over the next two decades.
It has since opened two hotels in Brazilian cities Curitiba and Vitoria.
In collaboration with Paragon Hotels Limited, Red Roof announced last year further Asia expansion with plans for a series of new build hotels throughout Thailand including Bangkok and Phuket.
At the time, Red Roof also hinted it may also look at development opportunities across the region including Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Bangladesh.
The budget chain operates in more than 400 locations in the US under the Red Roof Inn and Red Roof Plus brands.
