Rex boosts fleet

Friday, 19 Jul, 2006 0

Regional Express (Rex) has added an extra aircraft to its Saab 340B fleet and extended existing leases on its four 340Bs.

Rex, the largest independent regional airline in Australia, has steadily expanded its Saab 340 fleet and is now one of the largest 340 operators in the world with over 30 aircraft.

The move is part of Rex’s strategy of replacing its 19-seat Metro 23s with larger, more comfortable Saab 340s before the end of the year.

Describing the Saab 340 as “the ideal turboprop aircraft for today’s regional airline environment”, Rex Executive Chairman Lim Kim Hai said: “Its low operating cost and fuel-efficient engines have allowed us to remain highly profitable in spite of the very challenging fuel prices.”
