Ritz-Carlton back in Australia
The way has been cleared for the development of two luxury hotels in Perth.
Ritz-Carlton has announced the development of a 204-room hotel as part of the new Elizabeth Quay riverfront, with construction set to commence in 2015.
Asian residential apartment developer Far East Consortium will build the hotel, in addition to the construction of 420 residential apartments in two towers adjacent to the hotel.
Marriott International Asia president and managing director Simon Cooper said Ritz Carlton hadn’t been active in Australia for close to 15 years and this would be the first purpose-built Ritz Carlton in Australia.
Meanwhile, James Packer’s Crown Limited will start construction of its $570 million third hotel at its Burswood casino complex within weeks.
A bid by residents of the nearby Burswood Peninsula apartment and townhouse development to challenge the state government’s power to issue planning approval over the Crown Towers project was thrown out by the Supreme Court in Perth.
