Royal Caribbean to show all of World Cup
Royal Caribbean International claims to be the only cruise line with the rights to broadcast all 64 World Cup matches on its fleet based in Europe.
Passsengers on other ships outside Europe will be able see a selection of the most popular matches.
The company joins P&O Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line and Island Cruises in providing screenings from the World Cup in June and July but claims to be the only one to be showing all the games on its five ships in Europe.
In addition to being telecast live, all World Cup football matches will also be re-broadcast within 24 hours to allow passengers who may be on excursions to see games.
The World Cup will be shown in various public areas, including bars and sports decks, and be available for passengers to watch in their cabins. Royal Caribbean has also arranged for dedicated World Cup-related entertainment, plus themed areas of the ships for favourite teams.
The line’s UK and Ireland sales and marketing director Jo Rzymowska said: “Not only will every World Cup football match be shown onboard Royal Caribbean International’s ships in Europe over the peak travel period, but we are also celebrating the largest ever European deployment in our history. This means a choice of five ships showing World Cup football across a variety of venues.
“Providing the best possible range of leisure facilities is where Royal Caribbean International excels; no other cruise line has ever shown the entire World Cup, and no other cruise line currently has invested in the license capabilities to show all matches.”
