Ryanair to withhold fees to BAA Stansted
Ryanair is threatening judicial review proceedings against BAA over increased fees at London Stansted and says it withhold part of airport fees until the proceedings are over.
The move comes after easyJet told BAA it would do the same at London Gatwick after charges were increased by 21% (see earlier story).
Ryanair said it has written to BAA objecting to the proposed 7% increase in passenger charges at Stansted and is still awaiting a response.
“If BAA Stansted continues to abuse it’s monopoly power by imposing these maximum allowed price increases, then Ryanair will launch judicial review proceedings and it will withhold these latest increases (putting them in an escrow account) until the outcome of its judicial review proceedings at Stantsed,” it said in a statement.
