Scandinavia Only winding down business due to pandemic impact
Shareholders and Directors of Roy Taber Limited, trading as Scandinavia Only and Taber Holidays (www.scandinaviaonly.co.uk), have taken the difficult decision to wind down their business due to the impact of Covid-19.
Their decision is due to the significant restrictions imposed on international travel for the past 12 months, and the resultant repercussions on the entire travel industry.
"This is certainly not a decision that’s been taken lightly. We remain a solvent company – however the future seems so much less bright now than it did at the start of 2020. Then, we looked forward to further building upon the excellent year’s start that we had enjoyed, and our business was in a very healthy financial position," said Suzel Taber-Shaw, Managing Director:
"Now, 12 months later, with ongoing restrictions and uncertainty, we have made the difficult decision to wind down our business in an orderly manner."
"We sincerely regret the disappointment this will cause those who have bookings with us, but assure all our customers – travel trade and direct bookings alike – that they will receive a full refund as quickly and as efficiently as possible, directly from the company. There will be no calls made on the bonds that we hold for consumer financial protection."
"We will contact all customers with existing bookings – both travel agents and members of the public who’ve booked directly with us – individually and in strict date order. Due to the circumstances, we have a limited number of staff currently working, and we hope very much to be able to handle all administration via email.
The office team may be contacted on 01274 875 199 for any urgent matters.
"As a specialist operator, and long-term member of both AITO and ABTA, we have loved providing carefully-packaged holidays to Scandinavia for nearly five decades. "
AITO Chairman Chris Rowles: "This is sad news, and we understand only too well the pressure of the past 12 months and the battles to stay afloat in such a harsh business environment as the travel industry, which has soldiered on with no sector-specific support from Government."
"We shall miss Suzel at AITO and wish her and her fellow directors and shareholders the very best after accomplishing their orderly closure, with full refunds to all who have booked holidays with Scandinavia Only."
