Starwood is to open a hotel under its W brand in Scotland.
The 214-room, 12-storey hotel will form the centerpiece of the new St James development in Edinburgh.
Completion of the shopping, leisure and residential development is expected by 2020 and the hotel is scheduled to open the following year.
It will have a rooftop bar and outdoor terrace with skyline views, plus a spa, restaurant and event space.
Designed by architecture and interior design firm Jestico + Whiles, in conjunction with Allan Murray Architects, Starwood said the hotel will feature ‘a unique facade crafted from a winding steel ribbon’.
Starwood already has a W hotel in London’s Leicester Square.
