Search for MH370 to resume in southern Indian Ocean

Thursday, 26 June 20143 min read

The search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 will resume in an area 1,100 miles off the west coast of Australia, the country’s government has confirmed.

The news comes a week after UK satellite company Immarsat told the BBC that the area of the Indian Ocean searched so far was to the north of the spot it had identified as the most likely crash site.

Australia’s deputy prime minister Warren Truss said the search will now shift further south. So far, no trace has been found of the aircraft which vanished en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8 with 239 passengers on board.
