SeaWorld’s San Antonio park announced a revamp of its ticketing policy and said it would turn its Aquatica water park into a stand-alone facility.
It is creating separate gates for the main park and Aquatica, offering single admission options for each.
Currently visitors are required to buy a two-park ticket to access Aquatica.
The change comes after SeaWorld said market research findings showed demand for a separate ticket.
Under SeaWorld’s new pricing structure, which begins on March 5, a single-day ticket for SeaWorld costs $65 per person an $40 for Aquatica.
The one-park annual pass to either Aquatica or SeaWorld will cost $102 and an annual pass for both parks is $135.
Company executives recently said a decline in attendance was a result of ‘confusion in the marketplace’ over its pricing policy.
SeaWorld San Antonio President Dan Decker said the changes ‘are grounded on guest feedback and the desire to provide experiences that matter.’
The changes follow SeaWorld’s latest wide-ranging measures to rehabilitate its public image after the 2013 ‘Blackfish’ documentary criticized its care of killer whales.
SeaWorld is phasing out its theatrical orca shows next year to be replaced with a new program which ‘will engage and inform guests by highlighting more of the species’ natural behaviors.’
