Florida based Silver Airways has agreed to pay a $25,000 civil penalty imposed by the US Department of Transportation for failing to issue credit card refunds in a timely manner.
The airline failed to refund a small number of customers within the mandatory period of no more than seven business days.
"Although the effect on consumers was limited, during the relevant period Silver Airways failed to dedicate the appropriate resources necessary to determine when a refund was due and to process the refunds in a timely manner," the transportation department said in a statement.
Although the carrier has not admitted liability, it agreed to pay the penalty and to abide by a cease-and-desist order.
