A record-breaking number of Chinese travellers will go overseas for Chinese Spring Festival holidays.
"China’s Spring Festival holidays from January 27 to February 2 will be a global Golden Week with an estimated six million travelling overseas," a report by travel giant Ctrip said.
A report by the online travel giant Ctrip says Thailand, Japan and Singapore are among the most popular destinations favoured by mainland Chinese travellers for the week-long holiday next month.
Other ASEAN countries Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia are expected to see rising visitor numbers, Ctrip says.
South Korea, which was the third most popular overseas destination last year, has seen falling demand due to the uncertain political climate there.
Simplified visa application requirements and more flight and room capacity driving prices down in some destinations, have helped to attract more to travel overseas, the report suggests.
It says there are about four times as many people booking overseas trips compared to domestic holidays.
