Winter sports specialist Ski Safari is hoping the return of the Winter Olympics to South Korea next March will tempt more Brits to take to its slopes this season.

The operator launched ski trips to South Korea three years ago, featuring the resorts of Yongpyong and Phoenix Park, with skiing also available in the resort of Allpensia.

It is the only operator to offer holidays to the country, which will host the Winter Olympics in 2-18 for the first time since 1988.

Most of the snow sports will take place in PyeongChang, but alpine speed events will be held in Jeongseon in Yongpyong, whilst snowboarding and jumping will be at Phoenix Park. All ice sports will be staged in the coastal city of Gangneung.

The ski season in South Korea runs from mid-November to March, and this season, Ski Safari is offering a range of holidays from November 20 until Janaury 20, 2018.

Yongpyong is the most Alpine feeling resort. It is the oldest resort in South Korea, boasting 15 chairlifts and 31 pistes. Accommodation options range from the centrally located Dragon Valley Hotel, the main hotel in Yongpyong Resort, to traditional Korean-style accommodation (Ondol rooms).

Phoenix Park, located about three hours from Seoul, has 21 slopes and the Phoenix Park Hotel & Condos has rooms decorated in Western and Ondol style.

Both resorts also have high-end water parks and spa facilities.

In addition to ski trips, Ski Safari also offers extensions to the South Korea capital Seoul, or a two-centre holiday, combining Seoul with powder skiing in Hokkaido in Japan.
