Social Travel Website Aims to Compete With Innovative Approach

Wednesday, 29 April 20093 min read

With the recent launch of a web application which allows users to share journeys and travel experiences by placing ‘virtual pins’ on a map together with text, images and video, MapVivo.com provides an elegant solution for sharing travel experiences in comparison to email or other on-line travel journals. In doing so MapVivo believe they have a competitive solution for success in the crowded on-line travel market.

Having recently secured investment funding, the MapVivo team have ambitious plans for the product, which will provide a launch pad for a powerful social travel platform that can capture information to help other travelers plan ahead, meet up on the road, and share valuable tips and destination information.

The current release marks the first milestone on the MapVivo roadmap, allowing travelers to document and share journeys and travel experiences using social tools such as Facebook and Twitter. Users visiting the site can search for journeys or browse across continents providing a rich and unique source of planning information. Future refinements to the tagging and search engine will enhance search capabilities as the content base grows to make MapVivo an essential travel planning tool.

Further releases of the site will expand on its social features, including deeper integration with existing social networks, member messaging and group travel diaries. A mobile version of the platform is in the works, providing real-time diary entries and travel information.

With positive feedback during private beta testing the MapVivo team is confident of significant success in the coming year, and believe that although there are already clear leaders in on-line travel, there is still a race to be won with new opportunities available in social travel tools.
