Solomon Islands tourism rebounds
Solomon Islands tourism data for Q4 2022 shows it is on track for a full recovery.
The Solomon Islands National Statistics Office (SINSO) data recorded a total of 4,207 international visitors.
This represents a 69% increase on the previous quarter.
Australians again made up the bulk of the numbers.
They account for 42% of the Q4 total.
Arrivals from the key New Zealand and US markets also showed solid improvement.
New Zealand arrivals were up 60.6% and US numbers grew 60.6%.
“We remain cautiously confident,” acting CEO & Head of Corporate Services, Dagnal Dereveke said.
“We know with good marketing and reinstating international confidence in the Solomon Islands, we can get back to where we were.”
Mr Dereveke said being a host of the 2023 Pacific Games in November is a huge opportunity to boost its profile in Australia and New Zealand.
