Southwest Airlines recalling flight attendants for summer
In another sign that air passenger traffic is ticking up, Southwest Airlines will recall all its remaining flight attendants on its Extended Time-Off Program. It amounts to about 2,700 flight attendants and follows an upcoming recall of more than 200 pilots.
The flight attendants will return to work on 1 June ‘to support the upcoming summer schedule’ the airline said.
Southwest introduced the voluntary long-term leave program when air travel demand collapsed early on in the Covid pandemic.
Under the program workers were entitled to partial pay as well as travel privileges and health care benefits.
