Southwest launching first Mexico flights from San Diego

Southwest Airlines has announced its first nonstop Mexico service out of San Diego.
The airline will begin flying daily to Los Cabos International Airport from April 25.
That will take the number of destinations to 31 that Southwest serves from Lindbergh Field.
Earlier this month it announced new year-round flights from the airport to Boise and Salt Lake City, and seasonally to Newark, Spokane and Indianapolis.
"This month we’ll celebrate our 35-year anniversary with San Diego. It’s a milestone for service with us, and because we’re really striving to be your town’s carrier, the first one you go to when you fly, we want to offer a breadth of service for San Diego," said Leah Koontz, vice president controller of Southwest Airlines.
Southwest will face competition on the San Diego-Los Cabos route from Alaska Air, and Spirit Airlines which operates seasonally.
