Southwest to charge no-show fee

Tuesday, 17 Dec, 2012 0

Southwest Airlines is one of the only US carriers that doesn’t currently charge a "no-show" fee for missed flights.  The airline allows passengers to rebook with the full value of their missed flight ticket to the next available flight.

But that permissive policy is about to change.

The airline has announced that it will begin adding a no-show fee to passengers who miss their flights on their cheapest "Wanna Get Away Fares" at an unspecified amount and date in 2013.  The airline also announced several other revenue-building charges that will be passed on to customers including a rise in its "Early- Bird Check-in" option from $10 to $12.50 and a hefty increase on overweight bags from $50 to $100.
