Travel Counsellors chairman David Speakman has launched a website to clear up confusion about financial protection of travel companies and prompt debate.
The site is called Ismymoneysafe.co.uk and will highlight the highs and lows of consumer protection in travel.
The site tells readers: “We all need to be aware of the different types of financial protection available, and put simply, we need to know what is covered, and what isn’t? It’s a complex issue, and we hope this site will begin to clear the confusion.”
The site will suggest a new type of protection that would see holidaymakers pay money into a cloud travel bank until they return from their trip. Speakman has simultaneously put out a white paper on this proposal.
The site also asks travel companies to clarify their financial protection coverage should they go bust and what they would do if the operator they sold went bust.
