Just a few days after budget carrier Frontier Airlines ditched flight change fees, rival Spirit Airlines has done the same.
Spirit Airlines announced the end of the fees with immediate effect.
Spirit had charged customers up to $119 to change flights or for cancellation.
The airline says it applies to all tickets.
The disruption wrought by the global Covid pandemic brought an end to change and cancellation fees on most of the major carriers, which never brought them back when global air travel returned to normal.
For Frontier’s part, the move away from change fees is part of a new pricing policy, offering bundled fare packages with some add-ons it used to charge extra for now included in the fare.
This comes as the US Administration cracks down on airline fee transparency.
This includes being upfront with all fees payable and automatic refunds for cancellations and long delays.
Both airlines had built their brands on low basic fares but charged fees for almost everything else, from seat assignments to baggage.
