Strike threat for bank holiday
Pilots at BMI Baby are being balloted for strike action in a dispute over pay and pensions.
If it goes ahead, the walk out is expected to fall over the August bank holiday weekend.
BALPA, the pilots union, is calling for action after its members were awarded a 2.4% pay rise.
Pilots are also angry about having to make a higher contribution to the pension scheme.
BMI Baby said it remained hopeful that the call for action would be rejected.
A spokesman said the same pay increase had been paid to all other employees within the BMI Group.
Of the 200 pilots employed by BMI Baby, around 140 hold BALPA membership.
Employees of BMI’s full service airline could also join the strike action.
