Another tour bus tragedy has hit Taiwan’s tourism industry.
The death toll from a bus crash in Nanjang, Taipei now stands at 33, which is one of the deadliest yet.
The bus was packed with mostly elderly domestic tourists when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle.
It flipped over on a highway exit ramp after apparently hitting a barrier, with investigators suspecting excessive speed as a factor.
The bus was carrying 44 tourists after a day touring cherry blossoms in Taichung.
The driver and tour guide were among the dead, investigators said.
The trip had been organised by Tieh Lien Hua Travel Agency, according to the Taiwan tourism bureau.
Earlier this month a tour bus carrying Chinese tourists crashed into a low bridge in Southern Taiwan.
No deaths occurred in that incident but last year 24 Chinese tourists died in fiery crash which investigators said was deliberately caused by the driver.
