Thai airlines want new PM to scrap visa fees for India, China
Thailand’s airlines are urging the new Prime Minister to drop visa fees for major source markets like India and China.
Thailand’s major airlines including Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia Bangkok Airways, and Nok Air met PM Srettha Thavisin to discuss boosting tourism.
Top of the wish list was bosting traffic from India and China.
Airlines also asked for a cut in excise tax on aviation fuel.
The PM has been visiting tourist areas to gauge the current sentiment.
He also discussed issues with hotel operators and tour companies.
Boosting traffic from India and China is the main focus and airlines supports a tourism marketing push to increase demand.
So far this year, Thailand has welcomed about two million Chinese visitors, which is well down on pre pandemic levels.
