The Forth Road Bridge has reopened this morning, after workers completed temporary repairs two weeks ahead of schedule.
Coaches, buses, cars and motorbikes were able to use the road from 6am, but HGVs, which account for 9% of all traffic, have to use an alternative route until a permanent repair is complete in about six weeks’ time.
The Forth Road Bridge was closed to all traffic on 4 December after a crack was discovered in a truss under the carriageway.
