Thomas Cook launches long-haul holidays
Online travel agent Thomas Cook is to sell long-haul holidays after entering into new partnerships with 20 airlines including British Airways, Emirates, Virgin and Etihad.
The company said it was keen to offer as many destinations as possible to the places that are currently quarantine-free, including Dubai and St Lucia.
It has added a total of 43 new destinations to its portfolio, including Cancun and Punta Cana as well as major North American cities.
However, it says it is taking a cautious approach to launching holidays to destinations with travel restrictions. It will begin by selling packages to the US from 1 May 2021. Further countries not currently on the UK’s travel corridor list will follow in time, it says.
"Our next focus is opening up more regional flying from across the UK so more people can book their holidays from their local airport with Thomas Cook once again," said CEO Alan French.
Fosun Tourism Group acquired the Thomas Cook brand and its assets from the liquidators last November and relaunched it in September as a purely online business.
