Three Thomas Cook directors to retire
Three of Thomas Cook's longest serving non-executive directors have announced they are to retire next month.
David Allvey, Bo Lerenius and Peter Middleton will all stand down at the conclusion of Cook's annual general meeting on February 8.
Allvey's retirement comes, in accordance with corporate governance best practice, at the end of his nine years of continuous service as a non-executive director of MyTravel Gropu and then Cook following their merger, said the company.
Lerenius and Middleton have decided to retire at the same time to allow new chairman Frank Meysman "more flexibility to refresh the Board at this stage of the Company's development," added Cook.
Roger Burnell, the senior independent director, who also joined MyTravel Group as a non-executive Director in 2003, has agreed to remain on the Board for a further year to provide continuity. He will retire at the 2013 AGM.
An international search and selection firm has been appointed to assist the chairman and the nominations committee to identify and appoint additional non-executive Directors with recent operating experience.
Meysman said: "I would like to thank David, Bo and Peter for their contribution to the Board over the years, and particularly during the recent challenges that the Group has had to face. I, and my other colleagues on the Board, wish them well for the future. I am also grateful to Roger for agreeing to remain on the Board for a further year."
