American Airlines is investigating how an oxygen tank fell and hit a toddler on a Dallas bound flight.
The ceiling panel gave way and the oxygen tank struck the one-year old boy’s head while he was sat on his mother’s knee.
It happened as the flight from Hong Kong landed.
The toddler’s mother, 33-year-old Jennifer Zanone said he was not badly hurt but called out the airline for giving her ‘the runaround’ when trying to report the incident.
No gate agent was waiting to document the incident, as promised, Zanone said in a Facebook post, and was then kept waiting for an hour and a half.
"We stood there waiting for an agent and our stroller until the captain himself walked off the flight and apologized to us. After leaving the gate area, we went to the next customer service area to try to report the incident and were given the runaround. While the apologies were appreciated, documentation of the incident would have been preferred."
The airline said Zanone refused immediate medical attention for her son.
"American’s primary concern is for the Zanone family and their young child. Our customer relations team has spoken with Mrs. Zanone to offer additional support and obtain details of what transpired at Dallas/Fort Worth. Customers trust us to take care of them and we take that responsibility seriously," American said in a statement.
