Tonga in lockdown after foreign aid brings in Covid
Disaster-hit Tonga went into lockdown after recording its first locally spread cases of Covid-19. Two port workers who were handling aid shipments have tested positive along with family members, confirming fears aid workers could bring the virus to the isolated island nation.
It is the first local spread of Covid in Tonga, which had remained almost entirely Covid-free. The government said the lockdown will be reviewed every 48 hours.
