Tourism money for Great Ocean Road
The Victorian Government is to spend $340,000 on tourism marketing for the Great Ocean Road region.
The funding comprises $230,000 for Great Ocean Road cooperative marketing initiatives (to be developed in coming months), $100,000 to promote the Great Southern Touring Route and $10,000 for an Apollo Bay tourism destination plan.
“This region is one of the most stunning and popular parts of Victoria and we want to encourage more international and interstate tourists to visit, stay longer and explore,” State Tourism Minister John Pandazopoulos said.
Mr Pandazopoulos made the funding announcement while visiting Lorne and Apollo Bay to launch two new brochures – the official Great Ocean Road Jigsaw visitor guide that promotes next year’s 75th anniversary of the opening of the drive and the Apollo Bay Adventure Tours and Activities Guide.
“The Great Ocean Road was recently voted best drive in Australia by a national travel magazine and this new guide will highlight other significant highlights in its 75 years,” he said.
“The Apollo Bay publication is an initiative of local tourism operators and has been fully funded by them.
