Agents from outside home working company Travel Counsellors will be allowed to attend a day of its annual conference in Manchester next month.

This is the first time that agents from outside the company have been allowed to participate.

More than 1,100 delegates are expected at the annual event, including 600 of the company’s agents, being held at the city’s Manchester Central convention centre on December 4-6.

Travel Counsellors has claimed record sales over the past few months, with sales up 25% in October. The company has more than 1,100 Travel Counsellors, with 30% of these agents based in its overseas operations.

Managing director Steve Byrne said: “There is no doubt it has been a tough year for the industry but we are firm believers in the power of positive thinking and know events such as our annual conference are truly inspirational and motivating for our agents and gives them a real boost for the year ahead.

“We look forward to welcoming travel professionals from outside the company to what promises to be our best conference yet.”

He added: “As the most important event on the company calendar, the conference enables the company’s Travel Counsellors to enjoy a weekend full of exclusive events and activities focused around helping them build their businesses, keeping them informed of the latest news and developments within the company.

“The fact that we have now opened up the sessions on Saturday 5th December to travel professionals from outside the company is a very exciting move for us and we hope it will enable these agents to get a real sense of the camaraderie, support and friendship we share with one another at Travel Counsellors.”

Delegates attending the sessions on December 5 will hear from motivational speakers as well as key figures within the company.

It will also give non-Travel Counsellors a chance to speak to existing agents and find out first hand about what life is like running their own business as part of the company.

There will also be a special session for these delegates to attend dedicated to giving them further insight into the company and answer any questions they may have.

Agents from the company’s overseas operations including Ireland, Holland, South Africa and Canada, are to attend.

The event will see a record number of suppliers in attendance, with more than 150 exhibiting at a special ‘Pow Wow’ session, where agents can meet representatives from tourist boards, hotels and airlines and learn more about their products and destinations.

For those unable to attend the conference sessions on December 5, the company is holding a special open day at it’s head office in Bolton on December 9, which will give attendees the chance to see first hand the level of support and technology the company can offer, as well as the opportunity to meet directors and staff and also sit in on its Travel Counsellors TV broadcast.

*Those interested in attending either events can call 0800 072 5704 or e-mail [email protected].
