Travel trade publisher Ted Kirkham has died at the age of 100.
Kirkham co-founded Travel Trade Gazette in 1953 with Leslie Stone, where he took the role of editor before later becoming publisher and managing director.
He had previously produced the travel industry’s first colour magazine, Poly Holiday News, to promote the Polytechnic Touring Association, where he was publicity manager.
In the 1970s he ran a hotel in Cornwall before launching TravelGBI in 1977, a newspaper for domestic and incoming tourism.
Most recently, Kirkham worked in PR for several companies near his home in Kent.
He died peacefully at his home, where he lived with his wife Margaretha.
His son said there will be no formal funeral, at his father’s request.
