Travel recruitment set for ‘productive’ autumn
Travel recruitment saw its usual dip in August but the number of travel job placements actually rose 20% compared to August 2015.
And according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment, despite it being the peak holiday period, travel salaries still recorded a small rise.
Average wages were up by 4.37% compared to the same month in 2015, reaching £25,608.
This means wages for new travel jobs have now increased year-on-year in nine of the past 10 months.
Meanwhile, pay for the average standard travel job – those paying up to £40,000 – remained static in August with a dip of £4, taking the typical wage to £21,862.
But this still remains 6.86% above the figure in the same month of last year, with standard travel salaries now having risen annually for the past 15 successive months.
As expected for August, there was a dip in the number of new travel vacancies being made available, along with the number of new candidates looking for roles.
But the number of travel job placements made in the month still rose annually by 20% and was actually above the average monthly figure for 2015.
Barbara Kolosinska, director for both companies, said: "As ever, August was a quiet month for the travel recruitment sector, but we were delighted to still see activity rise by a full 20% compared to last August.
"After a terrific first two quarters followed by a slow start to the summer, this comparatively busy August should set the sector up for a very exciting and productive autumn, with many travel companies looking to ensure they have the right team in place for the busy period ahead."
