Travel Republic announces sudden departure of chief executive
Travel Republic chief executive Paul Furner and chief commercial officer Chris Roche are to leave the company.
Furner, one of the founders of the business, is leaving on Friday "to explore new opportunities". Roche will leave at the end of the summer.
Ian Simmonds, previously chief financial officer, will become acting CEO and the company said further senior appointments will be made over the coming months.
Furner only took the role of CEO a year ago, following the departure of former CEO Kane Pirie and fellow founder Chris Waite.
At the time, he said: "Chris, Kane and I first met at university and over the past decade we have achieved something quite remarkable in launching Travel Republic and building the business to its current size.
"We have ambitious plans to drive annual turnover to the billion pound level within the next three years and I am confident, with the team we have in place, that we will be able to deliver on these."
The company did not specify Furner’s next move or state the reason for Roche’s departure.
Travel Republic was bought by Dnata, part of the Emirates Group, in 2011.
