Travel salaries rise again
Travel salaries continue to rise, particularly in and around London.
According to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment and Chisholm & Moore Executive Recruitment, the typical salary for a new role in the travel industry now stands at £25,304, which is up 3.45% from last June.
"Travel salaries have now risen in five of the first six months of the year, which is an impressive statistic for any industry," said sales director Barbara Kolosinska.
"Average wages for new travel jobs are now at their highest point since April 2013 and have actually increased by more than £1,250 since the start of the year.
"Carrying on from what we saw in May, there was another strong rise in salaries for standard travel roles last month with roles in and around London seeing the highest monthly rise, which certainly contributed to the overall increase. Whereas, the executive jobs market actually saw a fall in salaries in June, although the number of available roles remained consistent."
Last month also saw a rise in the number of candidates stating their interest in finding a new job in travel, with registrations hitting their highest level for the past three months.
The number of new roles being made available also rose to levels last seen at the beginning of the year.
"Despite the distractions of the World Cup, Wimbledon and the occasional sunny day, we were delighted to see that many travel candidates still took the time to concentrate on their career and seek out a new role", said Kolosinska.
"And, luckily for them, more travel jobs were made available last month than at any point since January – meaning plenty of new opportunities are now ready for the taking."
