Travelport makes inroads into China
Some 6500 Chinese agents are to become familiar with the word Travelport after the travel technology provider inked a deal with the country’s only licensed GDS provider with domestic content.
Lengthy talks between Travelport and TravelSky have now resulted in a deal which earlier this year saw 200 Galileo-linked airlines able to issue interline tickets with Chinese carriers for which Travelsky operates reservations. Next to come is better functionality such as seat maps and reservations.
Brad Holman, Travelport’s president and managing director for the Asia Pacific region, said: “We are assisting TravelSky to build a distribution platform that will bring significant service enhancements to Chinese travel agencies and to international airlines seeking to sell their products in the rapidly growing Chinese outbound market.”
