Escorted tours specialist Travelsphere Holdings has been sold by HgCapital to Electra Partners for £155 million.

The direct-sell operator, which acquired Page & Moy in 2004, generated revenues of almost £170 million last year.

Besides coach tours, the company runs cruises from a range of ports in the UK and Ireland.

HgCapital director Ben Hewetson said: “Travelsphere is an exceptrional business and has grown considerably since our initial investment just over five years ago. With its strong presence in the longer haul markets, the group is now well positioned to take advantage of the growing trends in the travel sector.”
