TSA agent caught red-handed with stolen iPads

After an on air sting in October during which a TSA officer was tracked with a stolen iPad and filmed on TV with the stolen goods in his house, ABC News reports that another TSA agent was arrested this week for stealing electronic goods from passengers at New York’s JFK International Airport.

ABC says TSA baggage screener Sean Henry, 32, was being probed by a sting operation conducted jointly by the TSA and the Port Authority Police Department.  Two iPads with tracking capabilities had been planted in luggage as part of the sting.  Henry was arrested after he was caught leaving the airport with the tracked iPads and other stolen electronics on the airport’s AirTrain system.

A subsequent search of Henry’s house  turned up a black Apple Macbook that was also identified as stolen property.  The agent was charged with grand larceny and possession of stolen property, released on his own recognizance after not entering a plea and is due back in court in January.  More charges may be filed when the owners of the stolen property are located.

Transportation Security Administration spokesman David Castelveter told ABC News  that the TSA has "taken the steps to begin processing [Henry] for termination."

"TSA holds its employees to the highest ethical standards and has zero tolerance for misconduct in the workplace," said Castelveter in a statement.

In October, ABC News obtained a list of the highest ranked airports for TSA thefts from the TSA itself.  JFK ranked number two after Miami International Airport.
