Ride hailing giant Uber Technologies Inc has tapped a former Goldman Sachs banking executive to revitalise its fortunes across Asia.
It hired former chairman of Goldman Sachs Southeast Asia, Brooks Entwistle as chief business officer, Asia Pacific.
This is a key regional position with responsibility for building partnerships and autonomous vehicle alliances across Asia except India.
"Uber is a once-in-a-generation company. I would not have joined if I did not see there was a huge opportunity," Entwistle said.
"After working in Asia for 20 years, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity of shaping how the region moves over the next 20."
Entwistle spent more than two decades at Goldman Sachs and left in 2012.
Most recently he was CEO at private equity and real estate investment firm Everstone Group.
He is also an experienced mountaineer who has scaled to the summit of Mount Everest.
