United Airlines acquires stake in travel biometrics firm Clear Secure
Travel tech firm Clear Secure saw a bump in its share price after United Airlines disclosed it has taken a 5.1% stake in the company.
Clear Secure offers biometric document verification for airlines in the US.
Its secure identity tech helps to automate the identity verification process.
United currently has an existing partnership with Clear Secure, offering MileagePlus loyalty members a discounted price for the CLEAR Plus subscription service.
As well as airports, it helps reduce wait times at stadiums and entertainment venues that require a touchless ID verification process.
It also launched the CLEAR Health Pass during the pandemic.
Founded in 2010, Clear Secure went public earlier this year.
