United Airlines confirms order for Embraer regional jets
United Airlines has sealed a firm order with Brazilian plane maker Embraer for 25 E175 jets.
Based on list prices, the deal is worth about $1.1 billion.
It is buying the 70-seater vconfiguration of the E175.
"We are thrilled that United is adding another 25 Embraer aircraft to the large existing fleet of almost 400 E-Jets and ERJ’s currently flying in the United Express network," said Charlie Hillis, Embraer’s vice president, sales & marketing for North America.
Including this order Embraer has sold more than 420 E175s to North American airlines.
"These aircraft will be a terrific addition to our fleet, and we are excited to begin taking delivery of the aircraft early next year," said Gerry Laderman, United’s senior vice president of finance during a briefing at the Farnborough Air Show.
United also announced an order with Boeing for four 787 Dreamliners, a deal also worth an estimated $1.1 billion.
