United launches pre-travel testing for Caribbean flights from Houston

United Airlines is ramping up Covid-19 testing efforts to include Latin America and Caribbean destinations out of Houston.

For flights departing George Bush Intercontinental Airport from 7 December, customers can order a home testing kit, which will be administered and processed by Advanced Diagnostic Laboratory (ADL).

It is available for travelers going to Aruba, Belize City, Guatemala City, Lima, Nassau, Panama City, San Salvador, and Roatan, San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Travelers must take the tests 72 hours before departure and will receive the result by email within 24-48 hours.

The home test kit costs $119.

"Widespread testing is key to unlocking international borders and safely reopening global travel. This is particularly important for our customers in Houston, who rely on United to keep them connected with their family and friends in Latin America and the Caribbean," said Toby Enqvist, United’s Chief Customer Officer.

United will contact customers 14 days beforre their departure with details on ordering a home test and about the testing process, which is supported by ADL’s telehealth system.
