A United Airlines pilot has been arrested for allegedly being the mastermind behind a massive prostitution ring in Houston, Texas.
Bruce Wayne Wallis, 51, is accused of operating more than six prostitution houses, who charged women $400 a week to sell their services at the locations, CBS News affiliate KHOU reports.
One of the locations is in an apartment block where former President George W Bush used to live.
Wallis made his first court appearance and is charged with aggravated promotion of prostitution and engaging in organized criminal activity.
After the court hearing he was released on $15,000 bail.
It followed an investigation lasting several months by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the human trafficking division of Houston Police.
Wallis advertised sex services online and managed at least 20 prostitutes, the prosecution alleges.
United Airlines said it is aware of the charges and is cooperating with authorities.
Wallis has been taken off active duty, the airline said.
