US airlines cancel hundreds of Christmas Eve flights
Major US airlines have proactively cancelled hundreds flights suddenly for Christmas Eve. United Airlines cancelled 112 flights, while Delta Air Lines canceled around 90 flights for Christmas Eve.
Both cited the fast-spreading Omicron variant, with ‘a direct impact on United’s flight crews and the people who run our operation.’ United is ‘working hard to rebook as many people as possible and get them on their way for the holidays," the airline said.
"The Omicron surge may exacerbate personnel shortages and create significant disruptions to our workforce and operations," trade group Airlines for America said.
