US Airways flight attendants reach “tentative agreement’ with management
The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) has announced that they have reached a tentative agreement with US Airways management for a contract covering all US Airways mainline flight attendants.
The Association says that the tentative agreement, reached under the supervision of the National Mediation Board (NMB), allows for immediate economic improvements and provides all US Airways flight attendants with the strongest position for any discussions related to a possible merger with American Airlines.
The Association says that it was "steadfast’ in its insistence that flight attendants would be recognized as "partners in a potential merger."
US Airways is widely seen as the best suitor for American Airlines, in an impending marriage that would create a US mega airline.
The AFA’s statement said this merger would "provide the best opportunities" for US Airways flight attendants. It also said that the tentative contract agreement would help the union make the most of those opportunities.
