US hotel discount site launches in UK
US hotel discount site, Hotwire.com, has launched in the UK this week, promising savings up to half price on hotel stays.
But although customers can see details about the hotel’s star rating, amenities, neighbourhood and customer reviews, they are not told the name of the hotel until it has been booked.
Hotwire.com claims its site takes advantage of the fact that more than 40% of hotel rooms are left empty every night.
President Clem Bason said: “We work hard every day to bring unsold rooms to consumers at deeply discounted prices ensuring that customers continue to have great travel experiences, they just pay less for them.â€
Discounts are available in more than 2450 cities worldwide.
Hotwire is offering four-star hotels in London from £80 a night, Paris from £65, Las Vegas from £34, Edinburgh from £89, Madrid from £59, San Francisco from £56 and Dublin from £47.
