United States Virgin Islands’ department of tourism has promoted Canika John to the post of director of marketing.
John spent many years at USVI Hotel and Tourism Association serving as office and events manager and was responsible for all of the association’s fundraising efforts, marketing strategy and social events.
She also later held the post of meeting services and catering sales manager at Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort and Spa.
At the USVI department of tourism John had overall responsibility for trade show marketing, tour operator partnerships leisure sales and niche marketing.
USVI also expanded the role of marketing manager Frances Williams-Augustin to director of visitor experience for St. Croix.
"Canika John has been an integral member of the tourism team, taking on increased responsibility in sales and marketing as well as other areas, while Frances Williams-Augustin, a former American Airlines career veteran and manager, has invigorated our department that has helped to elevate our visitor experience efforts," said USVI Tourism Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty.
"We look forward to seeing these ladies shine as they embrace their new roles and continue to promote the Territory with passion and pride," Commissioner Nicholson-Doty said.
