Vail Resorts announces Covid-19 protocols for ski season

Saturday, 31 Aug, 2020 0

Big social distancing changes are coming to ski resorts across North America this winter.

Every visitor planning to use Vail Resorts’ 34 ski areas must make an advanced reservation.

This includes Vail pass holders.

This is one of several changes being made to contain the Covid-19 virus and limit crowding at lifts and elsewhere.

Vail Resorts will not sell any daily lift tickets until 8 December, so is reserving early season skiing for pass holders only.

In a letter to guests Vail CEO Rob Katz wrote: "I recognize the changes we are implementing will be an inconvenience. But I ask for your understanding and patience. In return, you can count on us to try and do everything we can to help keep you safe."

Resorts will limit capacity in restaurants and face coverings are mandatory.

"We’ll space out tables for physical distancing and we’re really focused on keeping people outside on the mountain going back to the basics of skiing and riding," said Sara Lococo, Vail Resorts senior communications manager.

It says no full service bars will be operating this season.
