Vanilla Air to fly new route to Cebu

Monday, 19 September 20163 min read
Tokyo-based budget carrier Vanilla Air has announced a new route to Philippines holiday hotspot Cebu, which will start on Christmas Day.
The All Nippon Airways owned budget carrier will serve Mactan Cebu International Airport daily from Tokyo Narita and becomes the first Japanese airline to launch regular services to central Philippines.
"This will open up more opportunities for an increase in tourism arrivals and spending, which will impact the overall economy of Cebu and the region," said Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Melanie Ng.
"I’m very elated it will finally happen because I was part of the Cebu delegation that first met with Vanilla Air in many World and Asia Routes events before," said Ng.
Philippine Airlines currently flies the route twice a day and Cebu Pacific operates four round-trip flights a week.
