In 2025, Vicksburg, Mississippi, will proudly celebrate its bicentennial, recognizing 200 years of rich history.

Vicksburg’s bicentennial will honor its past from its strategic role in the Civil War to its iconic blues acts.

A host of festivities are planned to celebrate Vicksburg’s journey, making 2025 a milestone year to visit.

 

Vicksburg’s 200 Year History: A lineup of signature events honoring history and community are planned. With the city’s past, present and future in mind, the five major bicentennial events center around five themes: People, The River, Arts & Culture, Lifestyle and Government & Military.

 

Top events

200th Anniversary of Vicksburg Incorporation – January 29, 2025

Kicking off the celebrations will be a week of events around the actual anniversary on January 29. 2025. Vicksburg will host a storytelling symposium, parade, banquet and other community events to commemorate the city’s incorporation in 1825.

 

Music & Culture Festival April 26, 2025

The Music & Culture Festival, features local and regional music, fashion, dance, theater and cultural demonstrations that showcase Vicksburg and the Mississippi Delta.

 

Independence Weekend ߝ July 4-6, 2025

Experience Vicksburg’s renowned Fourth of July festivities with an enhanced fireworks display.

 

Fall Family Fair October 4, 2025

Meet Vicksburgers at the Fall Family Fair for games, live music and family-friendly activities at this community event for all generations.

 

New Year’s Eve Celebration December 31, 2025

Ring in the new year with a spectacular New Year’s Eve event Throughout the bicentennial year, individuals, groups and organizations will be honored for their contributions to the Vicksburg community as part of the “200 Faces of Vicksburg” Campaign.
